Promote Your Business
Promoting your goat business can be as simple as a business card or as elaborate as a well designed website. Most successful producers will use every avenue with the least amount of expense incurred. Choose a Business Name- you will want one that is easy to remember, spell and pronounce.
Websites = sold goats
If you are producing show stock, breeding stock, 4-H projects, working goats or any goat related item you will need a very good website. The internet is the customers easiest way to locate the product that they are searching for. A simple website that loads quickly with easy to find products will pay for itself. Why websites work so well:
You can highlight any goats for sale with pictures, pedigrees, descriptions and asking price. Updates can be easily changed.
Can highlight Stud bucks, show does, winners circle, promotional sales, ect.
Search engines can bring potential customers to your site from all over the country or world wide.
Unless you can tackle designing your own website work with a pro. Talk to a web designer and ask exactly what is included for their base fee- how many photos per page? how many updates included? how long will it take to get it up and running? how many pages are included? Make certain your site is well constructed, attractive and fast loading. Music, glitz, pop ups, animation will slow loading time and most visitors will not return to your site.

Advertising in Publications
Placing small ads in Goat and Livestock publications can be very effective and not break the bank. Goat Rancher is relatively inexpensive and very effective.

Business Cards
Business cards are very inexpensive and portable. Make sure your card includes your business name, phone number, website address and product. Short and simple are the most effective. Tack your cards to every bulletin board you find; grocery stores, feed stores and community posting places.
Buy inexpensive card holders and ask businesses if you can place cards by the cash register. Veterinarians, farm stores or any local business.
Hand them to people you meet. Take them to local fairs, production sales, show competitions, anywhere you might meet fellow goat producers.
Scan them and add them to your emails.
Add them to all outgoing mail. Maybe someone is looking for that perfect pet and doesn't know who to contact.
